We know how important it is to find the very best care for you and your baby when you’re expecting in Amsterdam. That’s the only thing that counts. We believe in tailor made care that suits your needs. You will be cared for by our small team of midwives and together with you we will aim for a relaxing, stress-free pregnancy, labour and beyond.

Verloskundigen 101 is a successful practice delivering babies for over 500 mothers every year. We have a small team of highly experienced midwives and ultrasound experts who will be guiding you throughout your pregnancy, birth and beyond. We offer personal and complete antenatal care at all stages of your pregnancy, birth and beyond tailor-made to suit your needs.

Our philosophy of care is based on respect for pregnancy as a state of health and viewing childbirth as a normal, healthy, physiological process. We are committed to promoting an environment of medical excellence, informed choice and superior care, adopting a holistic approach throughout the pregnancy and during childbirth.
→ OUR PRACTICE
Our facilities include a warm and relaxing midwifery practice as well as state-of-the-art scanning equipment providing the latest in ultrasound technology including 3D and 4D ultrasound scans at our ultrasound centre Echo Amsterdam.

→ ULTRASOUNDS
Ultrasounds are made at our own ultrasound centre: Echo Amsterdam, located at: Ite Boeremastraat 1, 1054 PP Amsterdam. It is opened 7 days and 2 evenings a week for your convenience. In addition to the 3 ultrasounds that are usually covered by your health insurance, you can schedule extra ultrasounds. We also offer gender scans from as early as of 14 weeks pregnant and 3D/4D HD Live baby scans giving you a unique opportunity to glimpse precious images of your unborn child.

+ Pregnancy checkups are possible during early mornings & evening hours
+ You can schedule ultrasounds 7 days a week and 2 evenings per week in our own ultrasound centre
+ Group sessions will be available from Spring 2022
+ We also create Whatsapp group to allow to connect with other expectant parents attending our workshops about birth

I had a great experience with the team at Verloskundigen 101. As a first time mom, they provided excellent care and guidance as I navigated my first pregnancy. I had a relatively easy pregnancy, but I had one late-night scare on Christmas. One of their midwives was at my door within the hour to guide us on what to do next and be a reassuring voice. While I had a hospital birth and can't speak to the homebirth experience with their team, their care up to the point of my delivery would suggest that I would have been in good hands!
Highly recommended for international couples who may not be familiar with the Dutch care system. The professional and kind people at 101 are extremely knowledgeable, empethatic and caring. My wife is not from the Netherlands and verloskundigen 101 made her feel comfortable and confident to deliver a baby in the Netherlands. Thanks a million.
Having a baby outside of my home country would be tough, I thought. But it turned out to be the most incredible experience of my life, thanks to Verloskundigen 101 team.
I had a miscarriage before and they were super helpful and thoughtful with this bad experience at the time, so I decided to continue with them after our second try.
During all the prenatal period I felt they were a great source of support answering all our questions and offering the best service (extra ultrasounds, glucose, and blood tests).
During the labor, Ira-Lisa was on call and she was super concerned with my choice of having an epidural. She made the effort to find a place according to all our requests at 4 am! She also stayed with us until the hospital team took over the responsibility, very calm and warm all the time.
I have to say that postpartum period was above any of my expectations.
I was super overwhelmed at the time without any family member around us and the team showed up (literally) to cheer us up, also very concerned about my mental health by checking how I was dealing with all the emotions at the moment.
I am super happy and thankful I had chosen Verloskundigen 101 team to take care of my pregnancy. I highly recommend these experienced, powerful and thoughtful women to anyone that is looking for the best midwives in town! ❤️

A wonderful experience. Always smiling and caring midwives who are always there to help and answer all your questions. With their help, I managed to bring my pregnancy to an end. Thank you for all the examinations I scheduled with you in the hospital, thank you for being called while I was in the hospital for a few days to ask how I was, thank you for always being there for every time when I was scared and insecure! Recommendation to all future moms, beautiful experience, and I would choose them again!
[The best experience I could get]
As a first time mom, in a different country, during a pandemic, being pregnant got overwhelming at times! It was great to have Verloskundigen 101 midwives to answer all my questions and ease my fears.
I really appreciated the online information evening, not only for the info about where to give birth and available pain relieves but also for creating a network of pregnant expats that live close by. Some of us are still going out for walks (now with our babies)!
Regarding labour, I had the best experience one could get although quite different from what we had planned! My labour was so fast that ended up being at home. The midwife was super sweet and guided me very clearly and patiently through the pain. I really believe her instructions were essential to ease the pain and push it through! I'm very grateful for her. During the first week postpartum, they were also checking on us regularly and were 24 hours available by phone if needed (and I sure needed)!
