LISTENING TO THE BABY STORY ~ for children up to 7 years old
One unique aspect about this approach is the recognition and the baby story within everyone of us.
When, in the course of the life-forming experiences (such as being born, in the womb or conceived) we go through stressful circumstances, we may be left with unprocessed issues which, if not integrated, solidify as imprints in our body (nervous system, respiratory system, digestive, circulatory, etc).
✓ Sessions last 1h30 minutes and take place at Amsterdam.
~ Working with children
Children are able to express their "baby story" by way of body movement, memory crying, play and emotional tones.
By listening, understanding and playing I can support this communication and help the child to safely navigate the overcharged pieces of his/her experience.
In the process of a session or a series of sessions, the nervous system regulates and the child become more present and generally, embody the sense of triumph over helplessness. Same time the relationship between child and the parents is strengthened by way of deeper understanding.
~ How to know if you or your child needs extra help?
Fortunately, once we are born and in order to restore equilibrium, we are able to communicate our experiences by a specific body language, emotional expressions and in case of babies, through memory cry.
~ Example of behaviours that may translate the unheard “baby story” in babies:
- avoidance of eye contact
- too little tone or too much tension in the muscles
- startle response to sound or movement
- jerky arms, legs and head
- constant, weak or absent crying
- inconsolable crying
- arching
- hitting the umbilicus area or touching certain parts of the head repeatedly
- nursing/feeding difficulties
~ Older children, can manifest their unresolved “baby story” by exhibiting:
- hyperactivity
- coordination and balance difficulties
- tantrums
- inappropriate agression/timidity
- inability to make eye contact
- tactile defensiveness (desire not to be touched)
- excessive clinging
- avoidance of eye contact
More generally, physical symptoms such as colic, asthma, digestive problems, eczema, etc., psychological themes and patterns of relationship with other people, with food, etc. can be related with unprocessed early experiences.
If the “baby story” is met with consciousness, empathy and the right resources, the baby/child can gradually release blocked tension and relax into a greater sense of safety. Many physical symptoms may resolve or lessen and the presence is strengthened.
