Natalie The Doula - HypnoBirthing Private Course

I was born in Belgium to a Belgian mother and American father, and spent my entire childhood in the US. After studying International Business in university, my career took me to New York, Beijing and then London. In London, while still working in my corporate job, I realised that my heart was simply not in it, and that I needed to reconnect with my true self, the side of me that felt alive and bursting with love when helping and supporting others. Coupled with my admiration for the female body, pregnancy and childbirth, I knew what my purpose was - to be a doula.

In 2013, I attended my first doula training with Liliana Lammers and the famous French obstetrician Michel Odent. In this training, my doula “fire” was lit, so to speak. I learned that birth isn’t just about the birth of a baby, but the birth of a mother, of a father, of a community and of a society. Michel Odent has a famous saying, which is “to change the world, we must first change the way babies are being born”. When we start to trust what the body can do, we can avoid disturbing a birthing person unnecessarily. My job as a doula is help create the right environment for you to feel relaxed, at ease and safe, allowing you to connect with your baby and your body. Because no one knows your body and your baby better than you. It is your unique journey through pregnancy and motherhood.

In 2020, I moved to Amsterdam when I was 4 months pregnant, having to navigate a totally different maternity system as an expat, during a global pandemic. I know how it can feel to be in a new country or new place in your life, excited but also scared of the many unknowns. I’d love to you support you along this wild and individual journey into motherhood.

I am a mama to two little ones - Alma and Julius - whose entries into this world were wildly different. I can tell you more about that when we meet :).
