I am a certified birth doula. And I believe that it is the balance between your own intuition and knowledge about pregnancy, birth and the healthcare system, that prepares you best for your birth. Throughout our prenatal sessions, I ensure thorough preparation for both you and your birth partner as you approach labour. During active labour and birth I'll stand by your side, offering you continuous emotional and physical support.
What do my Birth Doula Package include?
4 prenatal sessions of between 90min and 2hours:
Session 1 and 2: Writing a birth plan
In these sessions I share a lot of information. From midwives and location of birth, to comfort measures (pain management), induction, interventions and protocols within the Dutch system. Armed with all the information, I help you write a birth plan based on the choices and options that best suites your needs.
Session 3: Birth positions and partner support
Giving birth in a bath, standing, at hospital, with an epidural, without an epidural and everything in between: We go through all the different birth positions so that you and your partner can feel what they feel like and get an idea of what you like. I show your partner how to support you in the different positions, as well as other great tips like, counter pressure, using a rebozo, and helping set up the environment for you and your birth.
Session 4: Postpartum
Getting used to the new lifestyle after birth can be challenge. In this session I talk to you about different things that you can do to make the transisiton earlier. If you are a planner, we can talk about making a Postpartum plan. If you don't want to write it all down, we just look at making sure that some practical things are put in place for both mom and partner.
In person Birth support
I am by your side from the start of the active phase of labour until 2 hours after the baby is born, guiding and supporting both you and your partner.
Postpartum visit
Within one or two weeks after birth I have my final visit. The purpose of this visit is to check how mom, baby and dad are doing. You have an opportunity to tell me your birth story as you experienced and, and can ask me questions that you still might have about the birth or anything else related to your time at home.
