I am Joanne, a certified sleep consultant. Having completed extensive training I use a gentle approach to help your little one to learn better sleep habits.

I really am passionate about helping families get the sleep they really need.

My Approach to Sleep training:

When parents entrust me as their child’s “sleep guide,” they are placing a great deal of trust in me, and I want to let you know that I take this responsibility very seriously.

While most books and programs dealing with child sleep issues take philosophical stands (based largely around the issue of “crying it out”), I believe that your child can learn better sleep habits by using gentler methods. The method I use places so much emphasis on accommodating different parenting styles. The bottom line is that you, as a parent, need to be comfortable with your new sleep plan in order for it to work for your child.

My approach to improving your child’s sleep is pretty simple:

* I’ll give you honest information about WHY sleep is so important for your child’s well-being. (This will give you all the motivation you need to make changes to your child’s sleep habits.)

* I’ll lay out an easy-to-follow customised sleep plan for your child and have a consultation to talk you through this and the strategies we will be using.

* In my opinion the most valuable part of my package - follow up support. I offer daily messaging support and we will have several follow up calls during our time working together.

I will explain the importance of sleep and provide you with the tools you need to establish good sleep habits from the start of your little one’s life. This will include setting up an appropriate routine and how to encourage independent sleep. I will also be giving you some important information about safe sleep practises.

* 30 minute phone/video call. We will discuss these strategies and talk about how to set up an appropriate routine for your newborn.
* Documented summary of our discussion. Detailed notes of our discussion including a summary of the guidance to support your specific situation.
* An idealised schedule to support good habits for your baby’s sleep.
* One 20 minute follow up phone call (taken within the first 3 months of your baby's life).

From 6 months of age most healthy babies are capable of sleeping through the night. However some babies need help with this skill. Using gentle methods I can help your little one to fall asleep independently, sleep through the night and have long and consistent naps.

* Preliminary evaluation. This is a comprehensive questionnaire about your child’s sleep habits and routines that you will fill out prior to our consultation.
* 90 minute consultation (in person, phone or video call). We will address the issues that you are experiencing and discuss strategies and troubleshoot possible problems. You will learn how to address bedtime, naptime, night wakings, or any other specific issues you might be dealing with.
* A detailed, fully customized sleep plan. We will discuss this in detail during our consultation.
* Online sleep logs. To help us track progress and pick up on any issues.
* Two weeks of follow up support. This includes 4 x 15 minute scheduled follow-up telephone calls and daily text/email support.
