Introduction
This closing ceremony is an ancient Mexican postpartum ritual, celebrating a new life cycle and closing a previous one, such as the circle of fertility and the birth of a child. It can be done at any time in life, and is guided by the intuitive wish of the mother to address any issues related to the birthing experience or postpartum time.
It is a wonderful way to celebrate your body’s amazing abilities (including – and especially – after a stressful birth experience). Apart from that, it is a way to create a moment of calm and reflection in the middle of the rollercoaster of emotions we experience during motherhood. This ‘Closing of the Bones’ ceremony is not only a spiritual/emotional experience, but also a physical one: the bones and organs are invited to return to their original place in your body.
This ceremony is done in the comfort of your own home. It takes between 3-4 hours and is facilitated by both Oda and Lievnath together.
This ceremony is gifted to Oda by indigenous Mexican midwife Angelina Martinez, to perform and share with you.

A ceremony is a personal exploration, and generally will include these elements:
- opening and setting intentions for the closing
- birth story sharing (the why are we here)
- a hot herbal infusion to drink
- a yoni steam or a hot herbal bath
- four hands massage
- wrapping in the rebozo
- relaxation and deepening
- (guided) meditation
- wrapping out - a return into the body
- traditional Mexican postpartum nourishing cacao drink
- closing the ceremony
